Every writer faces the dreaded writer’s block at some stage in their writing careers. Even those who are just learning how to write articles will come across this hurdle. In fact some people will find it difficult to write the first article never mind get stuck on the umpteenth one.

There are famous authors who never get beyond their first award winning novel. They just can’t seem to get going again. Possibly they fear that their second attempt won’t be as good as the first one. Or they might just have run out of content or even think that one book is enough.

Most article writers do think that one article is not enough. They wish to leave behind a legacy of a few. It can however happen that the article writing is not as successful as first imagined and the writer finds it difficult to come up with a follow-up one.

It can also be because the first article took so long to write and was so much effort that some article writers do not want to pick up their writing pen again. It could be that somebody was not that complimentary or that the article received many complaints and bad comments.

Whatever the reason for writer’s block it is something to work through otherwise a possible great career as an article writer could be nipped in the bud. Just one article, or only a few, is not enough to decide whether this is for you or not.

So what to do when that block hits you? Most importantly, don’t panic. This is not serious enough to cause trauma. Relax, take a deep breath and go back to your range of topics and ideas you worked on when you first started your article writing career.

Have a look at these topics and start writing. If this doesn’t work, then consider other activities that might have helped you in the past. When you found it difficult to learn to drive a car and you got stuck at a point, what did you do to carry yourself through this hick-up?

You were losing weight and you hit a plateau as most dieters do. What did you do to fight your way through this. What past tips and tricks have worked for you when you have been stuck in a situation and couldn’t seem to continue?

We all face these situations in our lives. We find we have gone this far and nothing seems to be able to move us beyond this point. What to do? Remember what worked for you in the past and try some more of the same.

You could find that getting back to the gym and starting an exercise regime could be what gets your mind clear and starts you writing again. Listening to a great bit of music could do the trick. Or what about reading many articles by your favourite bloggers and writers just to get your own creative juices going again?

Whatever you decide to use to unblock your creativity and those tricks that actually work, make a mental note of them. You are bound to get another writer’s block and you might need to use that trick again. Learning how to write articles can involve some motivational skills as well.
